Garden City Turkey Trot – 2011 - A note from Maurice, HFFRC Chairperson:

We had a great turn out for the Garden City Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Over 60 people ran with their Hance Family Running shirts in a show of support for the foundation. It was great to see group members in the crowd throughout the race. Next year we will look to keep increasing our presence.

Special thanks to Bonnie Begg from Denver , Colorado . Bonnie is Jackie’s childhood friend and a very talented graphic artist. Bonnie designed the logo which has created a lasting image for the foundation and will be the first to wear a running shirt to spread the word about the foundation in the mile high city.

Also noted is Kevin Wollney of Island Screen-printing who donated part of his fee and got us a high quality shirt at a reasonable price. If we get enough orders we can get sweatshirts and summer running shirts.

Wearing the shirts around town, in the gym, or at organized races spreads the word about the Hance Family Foundation. Everyone who owns one can spread the word about all of the acts of charity and kindness that are being done on behalf of Emma, Allyson and Katie Hance.

Going forward please remind people that there are no obligations associated with being a member of the running group. They can be serious runners or just beginners. We will try and get together for at least one race per month leading up the Hance Family 5k, which will be held in Floral Park May 19, 2012. Anyone in the group can suggest a race or let people know which race they will be in.

The December choice is the 19th annual Snowball Run in Wantagh . This 5 mile race is being held on 12/10/2011. You can register on-line at www.active.com or www.snowballrun.com.

 Anyone interested let me know.

Thanks, Maurice mpr3@optonline.net

Our Mission Statement
The Hance Family Foundation has been founded to honor the memories of Emma, Alyson and Kate Hance, who died in a tragic car accident on July 26, 2009 at ages 8, 7 and 5.

The funds raised for this Foundation will be used to support children’s endeavors, with an initial emphasis on serving the children of the Village of Floral Park. The intention of the Foundation is to honor the memories of these extraordinary girls by helping as many children as possible, in as many ways as possible.

The Hance family is deeply grateful for the overwhelming response to the Foundation’s creation and looks forward to directing the funds toward worthy causes. With the generous support of both strangers and friends alike, the Hance Family Foundation will have a tremendous impact on many young people and will celebrate Emma, Alyson and Kate’s lives by providing resources to children in need.

Healthy, safe and happy children are the highest priority for the Hance Family Foundation.

We are a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
